My thoughts on our English class: ERE

Hey everyone!

This is offically my last blog, as I had my very last ERE class today. So please, if you have been meaning to comment on my blogs, then it would be better not to, because I won’t be on to see them. ;-)

I can’t believe that the year is nearly over, and it is so exciting to think that christmas is only a few weeks away! During our last ERE classes we did a few interesting activities, one of which Ms. McLeay got us to close our eyes as she read out all the things we have done during the semester, and it really got me thinking! There were so many activities and assessments from earlier on that I had completely forgotton about, which made it a great end to the class to reminisce all our time together. Another activitie we did was read out one of our favourite pieces of writing and read it to the class, or tell the class what was your favourite part of the subject. I said the poetry anthology was my favourite part, as we got to be so creative, and make our own poems in so many styles. This was interesting to see what others had enjoyed/what others had created in ERE.

There have been so great things we have done in this class. :-) One of the first things we did was the short stories, where we wrote a short story and went through the process of editing it. We had the poetry anthology, that took so much time and effort to learn different types of poetry, but was so worth it when I look back on our finished products. We had our writer’s notebook, which could act as as inspiration for future writing ideas ans stories. We did the writer’s toolbox, where we learnt about verbs, adjectives root words and new words that we could add to our vocabulary. We also did a personal best writing piece, where we could write about any topic we had a interest in, or wanted to learn more about. We also had our family stories, where we used an interesting family incident, and made it our own, by filling in the missing details with things that we believe could have happened. And finally, how could I forget? We did blogging. To me, this was suvh a new and different experience, in which we learned all about commenting on other people’s blogs, and also safety on the net.

It has certainly been a great class, with so many diverse and fascinating activities, and I would like to thank Ms. McLeay for all the hard work she has put in for a great semester of English.

Finally, I would also like to thank all the people that have come on my blog site to read my blogs, and especially those that have responded and left comments.

Best wishes for the future. ;-)

heyyyy everyone!

I’m quite excited; The World Gymnastics Championships are on at the moment, and in a minute I am going to leave my class to go watch it! Yes, our school is taking us, FOR FREE. Which was really nice of them. :-)

Going back to school, at the moment in ERE we have no homework, and only six days of school left! Yay. But all the end of year exams are about to start, and we all have to study lots, even about things that we learnt from the start of the year, which I have forgotten already, damn. ;-)

Here is the address for Worlds: http://www.gymnastics.org.au/2005worlds/

So yeah! Keep commenting guys! ;-)

Hello everyone!

I have finally fixed my blog site, as it was doing wierd things like not letting people comment on my blogs. But now I have changed the format, and it doesn’t look as cool, but you can comment at least! ;-)

We are still working on our family stories for ERE, and our first draft was due today. I have quite a bit to change around after talking to Mrs. McLeay about it.

It doesn’t feel like we ever had a long weekend, I am feeling just as tired as I was before hand. At least I don’t have as much homework, I think the teachers are easing off for a while before the mad rush at the end of the year!

Today, a friend of mine was asking me about this statement…it really makes you think!

‘If you aim to fail, and succede in doing so, have you failed or succeded’?

I think there are two ways at looking at it. Technically, you have failed, but then, you have aimed to fail, so you are succeding ion the way of your aim. :-) I found it interesting anyway.

Thanks for reading!

Wassup everyone?

The long weekend was SO great, we had five days off school! Well, technically, we only had four days off. The first day we had off was only a community day, where we got together with another school for the day, and just played games. The occasion for the rest of the five days? The melbourne cup! (If anyone doesn’t know what that is, it’s a horse racing carnival) Where Maykybe Diva created history! She is now the first horse to win three Melbourne Cups in a row. :-)

I have now finished my ‘Family Story,’ pretty exciting huh? But I have to say, it sure took a while! Now in ERE we are doing our projects, and blogging. I didn’t have any idea that we would be doing BLOGGING in this subject, and it’s a really different experience, writing just for others to read, and also for others to comment on.

Best be off, Bye! ;-)

Hey, everyone out there!

Today we all checked our blogs for comments, and a few of my friends recieved comments from CANADA! It was so amazing, as the students that commented were from the other side of the world, it is so incredible to think that our blogs are read by so many people around the world…it really feels kind of wierd. ;-)

We have started our next assignment in ERE, which is going well for me so far. It isn’t due for a while, so I can really relax and try to do it as well as I can. :-) It’s on a ‘family story,’ and we have to try and use a family story we have heard about, then make it creative by adding in our own ideas of what could have happened where we don’t quite know what happened.

We are getting even more homework at the moment, it’s really crazy! I can’t wait until the end of term.

Until next time bloggers!

Wow, i think I am actually understanding this whole ‘blog’ thing finally! ;-)

Today we have a double session on the computers, and we had to go to this bloglines site, www.bloglines.com where you can get blogs from personal interest sent to you when a new one is posted. I also have my friends’ blog sites on it, so every time they write a new blog I can read it! I think it could come in handy sometimes.

Yesterday, we also had ERE. We had to bring in a picture of us/our family, and write about it from another person, i.e not ourselves, point of view. I think it was a great excercise to do as you had to think of how other people might think in a certain situation.

Thanks for reading my blogs! :-)

Hey everyone!

We have another ERE assignment! The teachers are giving out tons of homework at the moment, as its getting closer to the end of term. ;-)

This assingment is on memories from the past/family stories. It seems like it will be interesting, but we haven’t heard much detail on it yet, because our last assignment was only due today. (The one on a topic of our personal interest).

Well, thats all I have on ERE at the moment, we are still blogging every class nearly so you are sure to be kept updated … write soon. :-)

In ERE at the moment we have an another assignment, which is that we have to write an essay about a topic of interest/a topic we want to know more about. I found it quite interesting to do actually. I have finished mine already even though it isn’t due for a while, so I can relax! ;-)

heyyy…
I’m back! I have started blogging alot again lately. We still haven’t got our mark back yet from our poetry anthology, which I’m really looking forward to!
Today in ERE we each got a postcard, and had to write about it in any way we wished. I got a picture of a really cool looking black man holding his dog. I decided to write a kind of rhyming rap song as he looked a bit like a rapper. It was really funny, but i won’t publish it here as it is a bit stupid! :-)
We are still focusing on blogging, and yesterday we went onto various web pages to read other students’ blogs, some of which even won prizes for them. I found this really sad story, but it was SO sweet. here it is:

A Miracle

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.
Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment.
Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glasscounter. That did it!
“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick… and I want to buy a miracle.”
”I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist.
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”
“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little.
“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”
The pharmacist’s brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”
“I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago.
“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents—the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.”
He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn’t long until Andrew was home again and doing well.
Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. “That surgery,” her Mom whispered. “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?” Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost… one dollar and eleven cents …… plus the faith of a little child.

How beautiful is it? Congrats on an amazing story whoever wrote that!

Hey everyone! I haven’t written a blog for ages! I better get you up to date…

Well, I have finished my poetry anthology, and the title I have finally thought of is, drumroll, ‘Awakened emotions.’ It took me a while to think of it, but i did it eventually! This really represents my anthology as all the poems are deep and could be emotional. Alot of people don’t show their emotions, and my poems could ‘awaken’ them in a way, if you really think about them. :-)

In all, I am very happy with how it has turned out, and can’t wait to find out my mark! I have to go, as the bell is a few seconds away.
